Blood pressure is best measured after an individual has rested for 5 minutes. While the participant is resting, please kindly provide them with the participant questionnaire to complete.
Complete 3 blood pressure measurements with the participant using correct technique. Record measurements on the participant questionnaire.
Review the participants average blood pressure (readings 2 and 3). Elevated BP is defined as systolic BP >130mmHg or diastolic BP >80mmHg. Provide the participant with a record of their BP. Provide the participant with handouts or links to handouts noted below.
Enter the participants answers from the questionnaire, the blood pressure values obtained, and any steps taken after discussing the results in REDCap.
Process: provide participant with a paper copy of the questionnaire to be completed while they wait for their BP to be measured. Once complete, enter the data in REDCap.
After three blood pressure readings are completed, the average of readings 2 and 3 is calculated and shared with the patient. Patients should be provided with a copy of their results, along with an educational handout if appropriate. An average blood pressure of ≥130 mmHg systolic or ≥80 mmHg diastolic is considered elevated.
For participants who prefer not to share their email address for the Phase 2 acceptability survey, please provide them with the letter below.
